Holy Entrance

Description

Entrance portals opened only for distinct ceremonies. Door of the Dead on St. Peter’s Basilica is traditionally used as an exit for funeral processions. Some are only opened on Christmas day, some are only for the pilgrims to enter the church. Some are sealed by mortar and cement from the inside and cannot be opened without the will of the Pope.

The images on these doors is influenced by the idea of seeking sanctuary and evokes the passage from sin to grace. All holy doors tell a story. When arriving at one of these doors it is up to us to get curious to find out what the story is.
